projects

our project span from advanced technical design..

we design through curious investigating the requirements, limitations and possibilities.

designing is the combination of many aspects like functionality, usability, aesthetic, cost, sustainability and many more. A qualitative iterative design process systematicly include all relevant aspects.

our projects has a wide span i scale and functionality. But they all have the same fundamental design apporach. See 'services' to read more about this.

The Magic5 goggle

the project started in 2017 and has developed to a succesfull business since then.

to confirm this, the company had one of the most successfull presentations in The Shark Tank

the goggle was designed because most goggles do not fit and they are  uncomfortable to wear for a longer time. due to the misfit they also leak and the field of view becomes obscured.

with the client we developed a method to costum fit the goggle to each user, and by this we greatly increased the comfort and tightness.

during this proces we also discovered, that the field of view should be oriented 'upwards' and not in front of you, as when you are walking. So we angled the lenses upwards and inwards to increased the field of view.

further we also introduced spectalcle rods (temples), to reduce the risk of the goggles rolling down during head jump.

the result is probably the best goggle in the world.

“The goggles of the future [...] the company moulds the nose bridge and lens cups to fit your face exactly, creating a comfortable, leak-proof seal.” - Today

“They stayed in place, passed the leak test, and fit my eye socket so well that I didn’t end up with giant raccoon circles.” - Women's Health

"Since they're specific to your facial contours, you don't need suction to keep them leak-proof. That means goodbye, goggle marks and hello, comfort." - Men's Health

"I put on the goggles, jumped in, and swam 1000y warmup—straight, no stopping, no touching or adjusting my goggles." - triathlete

“THEMAGIC5, a high-end swimming goggles company.” - The New York Times

The Magic5 made a $1,000,000 deal with Mark Cuban And Robert Herjavec - Shark Tank, Season 13, Episode 4

The Weather Tower

Location: Høje Taastrup, DK, 2017

KEINGARD provided the project, and we collaborated on the early phases.

From here Sonnichsen Design finished the sketching, acquired the building permit, engaged the structural engineer and contractors, completed the technical drawings and foresaw the completion of the building.

A modular table system.

Studiotablebased has been used with several brittish architects such as Foster & Partners, at LSE, Aberdeen University and Stansted Airport, with Hopkin & Partners at Norwich Cathedral, and with John McAslan at Max Mara headquarters.

The series of handmade stainless tables and benches is a modular system, with very elegant details made to get a feeling of being like at jewel  - a very honest table.

Due to the distance between the frame and the table top, the top appears to be floating, wich in turn makes the table lighter and mere elegant. The hand-made stainless steel frame is treated with a pearl blasting process, which ensures a particulary fine finish.

Tahnks to the adjustable feet, which are sunk into the leg, and are therefore not visible, the table can be leveled in every situation.

The main materials are:

- pearl blasted steel profiles

- various plywood table tops

Reviews:

Rarely you do come across products that combine a consideret directness in their use of materials, an engineering exactness and strong visual appeal” -  John Small, designer, former partner at Foster & Partners and former European Director at Steelcase.

“Skillfully detailed, elegant, robust and timeless” - Richard Davies – photographer and assigned for Foster & Partners.

A safety curtain rod

An innovative curtain rod for existing rod systems.

This project was developed for STILA-curtains in a design process to develop a more secure curtain rod for the psychiatric hospitals. Also the desire was to create a solution, that could be fitted onto the existing rod system.

The main component is made of rubber and the closing mechanism is magnets, that can be positioned with a spacing to fit each need.

Laboratory equipment

Food quality tester by Mocon/Amtech

Engaging product design, usability, and ergonomics in the food procesing industry is new here – the product are used in laboratories and on site within the food industry

The products detect the gasses and leaks in the packaging.... and it is not an office desk item.

So the small Check Point is both meant to be handheld and to be used standing on the table – it moved around within the invironment , so naturally it had to be visible from distance both in shape and coluor.

The arch in the shape symbolizes the mersuring of more and less and the red is of course fom the company logo too.

Three products were designed with a similar story telling from Dansor/Ametek and all viewed as innovative and a new way of approching these very technical products.
